Monk Updates in WoW TWW 11.0.5 Patch Notes

World of Warcraft (WoW) continues to evolve with its latest expansion, The War Within (TWW), bringing significant updates and changes. With the 11.0.5 patch, Monks received substantial adjustments, impacting all three specializations: Brewmaster, Mistweaver, and Windwalker. These changes aren’t just about class balance but also new abilities and talents to make Monk gameplay more fun. In this guide we’ll go through the Monk changes in WoW TWW 11.0.5 Patch Notes, new talents, ability changes and how they affect gameplay.

Monk Adjustments in WoW TWW 11.0.5 Patch

Patch 11.0.5 brings some nice new stuff for Monks, new abilities and talents across all specs. Whether you’re a Mistweaver, Brewmaster or Windwalker, there’s something for everyone. The patch is focused on making Monk more useful and effective in PvE and PvP, making the class more viable in the current WoW meta. Let’s get into the details.

Hero Talents and Shado-Pan Adjustments

WoW TWW 11.0.5 patch brought some changes to Hero Talents for Monks, specifically to the Shado-Pan talents. Here’s the summary:

  • Energy Tracker Aura: A new talent that shows how much energy has been spent towards the next set of Flurry Strikes.
  • Flurry Strikes: Now triggers at 240 energy instead of 300 and 8% less damage. The goal is to increase the frequency of Flurry Strikes while balancing the damage.

Before this change Monks had a hard time managing their energy and would often miss optimal Flurry Strikes. Now with an energy tracker and lower trigger threshold players can make better decisions during combat. Despite the damage reduction this makes it easier for Shado-Pan Monks to maintain their damage output.

List of Shado-Pan Changes:

  • Flurry Charges are no longer cancelable and no longer have a duration.
  • Flurry Strike Accumulator Threshold increased by 47%.
  • Wisdom of the Wall bonus effects duration reduced from 20 to 16 seconds.
  • Against All Odds duration reduced to 5 seconds (was 6 seconds).

These changes make Flurry Strikes more consistent and reduce the margin of error in energy management.

Mistweaver Monk: New Talents and Healing Improvements

Mistweaver Monks got some nice changes in 11.0.5 patch, new talents and changes to their core healing abilities. One of the biggest addition is the Dome of Mist, a new passive that turns healing spells into damage absorption, making Monks more survivable in high pressure situations. This makes Monk more viable in PvE and PvP, making Mistweaver a more tanky healer.

Talent/Ability Description
Dome of Mist Enveloping Mist transforms 80% of remaining periodic healing into a damage-absorbing shield.
Jadefire Teachings Increases healing by 140% after casting Jadefire Stomp or Thunder Focus Tea.
Refreshment Life Cocoon now grants 5 stacks of Mana Tea and applies 2 Healing Elixirs to the target.
Rushing Wind Kick Replaces Rising Sun Kick; deals AoE damage and increases Renewing Mist healing by 50%.
Jade Empowerment Thunder Focus Tea boosts Crackling Jade Lightning damage by 1000%, chaining to 4 additional enemies.

These changes make Mistweavers more flashy, with burst healing and damage absorption through Dome of Mist talents and Jadefire Teachings that convert damage into healing.

Gameplay Impact

Rushing Wind Kick changes the way Mistweaver Monks play. By replacing Rising Sun Kick with this new AoE ability Mistweavers now have more tools to manage group healing and control. Jade Empowerment makes Crackling Jade Lightning much more powerful so Mistweavers will have to weave in damage abilities between healing spells.

Windwalker Monk Changes

Windwalker Monks got some buffs in 11.0.5 patch, focused on overall damage and AoE. The biggest change is Blackout Kick damage increase, 20% more damage. This makes Windwalker Monks even more viable in single target and AoE damage.

Windwalker Monk Changes:

Talent/Ability Adjustment
Blackout Kick Damage increased by 20%.
Flurry of Xuen Damage increased by 40%.
Dance of Chi-Ji 100% more chance to trigger, makes it more consistent damage boost.
Courageous Impulse Fixed Blackout Kick buffing issue.

These changes are for Windwalker damage, especially in AoE where Flurry of Xuen and Dance of Chi-Ji excel. Dance of Chi-Ji trigger chance is especially nice, so Windwalkers will be top pick for dungeons and raids.

Brewmaster Monk: Defensive Buffs and Tweaks

While 11.0.5 Monk changes are focused on Mistweaver and Windwalker, Brewmaster got some nice changes too. Not as many as the other two but important for Brewmaster players who need high survivability to tank in tough fights.

Brewmaster Changes:

Talent/Ability Description
Calming Coalescence Redesigned to increase Life Cocoon absorb by 80%.
Ancient Teachings Now baseline, 30% of damage converted to healing.

These changes are small but nice for Brewmaster Monks to maintain their defensive edge, especially in high end PvE. Calming Coalescence redesign provides more protection in critical moments so Monks are still top tanking option.

Monks in The War Within Patch 11.0.5

Monk changes in WoW TWW 11.0.5 patch notes bring changes to all three specs. Whether you are a healer, damage dealer or tank, these changes give more versatility and effectiveness across all content types. Mistweaver Monks get new healing tools, Windwalker Monks get more damage and Brewmasters get more defensive capabilities. As players continue to explore The War Within, these Monk changes make the class more viable and fun to play.

With these changes Monks will be relevant in raids, dungeons and PvP. So go PvE or PvP, 11.0.5 will make your Monk shine.
