Rogue in WoW TWW 11.0.5 Patch Notes: All Changes and Updates
The latest patch for World of Warcraft (WoW), version 11.0.5 in The War Within (TWW) expansion, introduces significant updates to the Rogue class across all three specializations. New talents, new abilities, core changes, we have a lot to dig into. In this post we will go over the general changes, new talents and spec specific changes for Assassination, Outlaw and Subtlety. Whether you are a seasoned player or new to WoW these changes will help you optimize your Rogue in TWW.
All Rogue Changes in The War Within 11.0.5
Patch 11.0.5 of The War Within brings a lot of changes that affect the core Rogue gameplay. These changes add new talents, adjust abilities and rework that affect all 3 specs: Assassination, Outlaw and Subtlety. The goal of these changes is to give Rogues more flexibility and power to excel in both PvE and PvP.
New Talents
The addition of new talents gives Rogues more options. These talents give mobility, make finishing moves more effective and overall damage more powerful. Here are the new talents:
Talent Name | Description |
---|---|
Thrill Seeking | Adds 1 additional charge to Shadowstep (Assassination/Subtlety) or Grappling Hook (Outlaw). |
Supercharger | Shiv, Roll the Bones, or Symbols of Death supercharge 1-2 combo points, enhancing finishing moves. |
Forced Induction | Increases the bonus granted when a finishing move consumes a supercharged combo point by 1. |
The new Supercharger talent is the most interesting one, it allows Rogues to maximize the effects of abilities that scale with combo points spent. Not just the damage of finishing moves but also effects like Rupture duration, Poison Bomb proc chance, Restless Blades cooldown reduction and Flagellation lashes.
Hero Talents
Hero talents have been adjusted to balance PvE and PvP. These changes allow Rogues to transition between burst and defensive play.
Talent Name | Description |
---|---|
Inevitable End | Ensures more reliable combo point flips after renaming from Inevitability. |
Delivered Doom | Provides bonus damage when multiple targets are nearby, with damage decreasing by 6% for each additional target. |
Edge Case | Flips a Fatebound Coin on its edge when activating Deathmark or Adrenaline Rush instead of the next finishing move. |
These hero talents allow Rogues to handle multi-target and single-target situations.
Ability Adjustments
In addition to the new talents, several Rogue abilities have been changed to improve gameplay and survivability. These changes range from automatic energy management to reworked finishing moves:
Ability Name | Update |
---|---|
Echoing Reprimand | Redesigned to deal Physical damage after consuming a supercharged combo point, adding more versatility to finishing moves. |
Thistle Tea | Automatically consumes when Energy falls below 30, ensuring that players always have the resources needed for sustained damage output. |
Cut to the Chase | Now grants Slice and Dice duration without requiring an existing Slice and Dice to extend, improving uptime. |
Soothing Darkness | Healing increased to 30% of max health over 6 seconds (up from 15%), though the effect no longer triggers from Shadow Dance. |
Cheap Shot | Duration increased to 6 seconds in PvE (remains 4 seconds in PvP), giving players more time to incapacitate opponents. |
Feint | No longer triggers a global cooldown, making it easier to incorporate into defensive rotations without interrupting the flow of combat. |
These changes make them more self-sufficient and less dependent on external energy and healing. For example, Thistle Tea automatically consumes when energy is low so Rogues can sustain high damage rotation without manual intervention.
Additional Updates
In addition to these changes, some abilities and talents have been tweaked to fit Rogue playstyle in different situations. A few have been removed for simplicity:
Other Changes | Description |
---|---|
Shadowstep Removal | Shadowstep has been removed from general use but is still automatically granted for Assassination and Subtlety. |
Subterfuge | Now also grants duration to bonuses requiring Stealth, including Improved Garrote (Assassination), Indiscriminate Carnage (Assassination), and Take ’em by Surprise (Outlaw). |
Resounding Clarity & Reverberation | These talents have been removed from the game for balance and refinement. |
These changes, like Subterfuge, ensure Rogues keep their combat bonuses even after breaking stealth. Removing older redundant talents like Resounding Clarity and Reverberation simplifies the talent tree and makes room for more impactful talents.
Updates in All Rogue Specs in Patch 11.0.5 of WoW
Patch 11.0.5 of The War Within has changes for all three Rogue specs: Assassination, Outlaw and Subtlety. Each spec has been tuned to improve combat flow, increase burst and balance overall gameplay. These changes affect abilities, talents and cooldowns so each spec is more dynamic and competitive. This section covers the changes for Assassination, Outlaw and Subtlety Rogues, what changed for each.
Assassination
Assassins who deal poison damage and have strong single target damage have received some changes to improve burst and adjust crowd control.
Ability/Talent Name | Update |
---|---|
Master Assassin | Duration increased to 6 seconds (up from 3 seconds), though the critical strike bonus has been reduced to 25% (down from 30%). |
Iron Wire | Silence duration reduced to 5 seconds (down from 6), with the PvP damage reduction effect reduced to 3 seconds (down from 4 seconds). PvP silence remains 3 seconds. |
Twist The Knife | Now enables Envenom’s beneficial effect to overlap up to two times, increasing its potency in prolonged encounters. |
Envenom Tooltip | Tooltip updated to reflect the overlapping behavior of Twist the Knife to provide more accurate information to players. |
These changes keep Assassination Rogues competitive in burst and longer fights. The increased duration of Master Assassin gives more time for critical strikes, Iron Wire changes balance the silence and damage reduction, and Envenom stacking adds to sustained damage.
Outlaw
Outlaws are all about fast combat, dealing with multiple enemies and consistent damage. The patch has changes to improve their crowd control and AoE, making them more viable in PvE and PvP.
Ability/Talent Name | Update |
---|---|
Crackshot | Now refreshes the cooldown of Between the Eyes upon gaining Stealth, adding more burst damage potential. |
Precise Cuts | Increases Blade Flurry’s damage by 4% for each missing target (up from 2%), doubling the previous bonus. |
Keep It Rolling | Cooldown reduced to 6 minutes (down from 7 minutes), allowing for more frequent use in combat. |
Blade Flurry | Range and initial damage effect radius have been increased to enhance AoE damage capabilities. |
These changes make Outlaw Rogues even better at controlling large groups of enemies and single target damage. With Blade Flurry’s increased range and Precise Cuts Outlaws are now more consistent in AoE situations so more valuable in dungeons and raids.
Subtlety
Subtlety Rogues are all about stealth and burst damage, quick and decisive strikes that leave enemies incapacitated before they can even react. Patch 11.0.5 has new talents and cooldown changes to further improve this spec’s burst.
Ability/Talent Name | Update |
---|---|
Death Perception | New talent that gives Symbols of Death an additional charge and increases damage by up to 6%, boosting Subtlety’s burst potential. |
The First Dance | Redesigned to increase the duration of Shadow Dance by 4 seconds after remaining out of combat for 6 seconds (10 seconds in PvP). |
Shadow Blades | Cooldown reduced to 1 minute 30 seconds (down from 2 minutes), but the duration has been shortened to 16 seconds (down from 20 seconds). |
Removed Talents | Invigorating Shadowdust and Sepsis have been removed to streamline the talent tree and focus on more impactful abilities. |
Death Perception gives Subtlety more consistent access to their high damage abilities and The First Dance allows for longer periods of stealthy Shadow Dance. These changes make Subtlety more deadly in burst phases especially in PvP where quick stealth strikes are key to winning.
The War Within Patch 11.0.5 Impact on Rogues
The 11.0.5 patch in World of Warcraft: The War Within has some cool changes for Rogues. Thrill Seeking and Supercharger talents, and Echoing Reprimand and Blade Flurry changes make Rogues more flexible and able to do PvE and PvP. Assassination Rogues have more sustained damage, Outlaw Rogues have better crowd control, Subtlety Rogues are more deadly in PvP.
So Rogues will be relevant throughout The War Within and give players more choice in their playstyle. Whether you like to burst down single targets, control the battlefield in big fights or sneak up on your enemies for a stealthy kill, there’s something for every Rogue in WoW TWW.
