Monster Hunter Wilds Best Mods

My Monster Hunter Wilds loadouts vary from dual blades to insect glaive and I love to tweak everything. Throughout my adventures I’ve found some amazing mods that changed my hunts and added new mechanics. Below I’m sharing what I’ve learned about these projects along with some data and insights to help fellow hunters find new lands. From better interfaces to cosmetic changes, these mods offer ways to re-imagine every quest in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Reviews ⭐ 5.0

I always wanted to have data during hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds and an overlay appealed to me because it gives better visibility on boss HP and party performance. This plugin uses reframework, cat lib, and reframework D2D so it may take a moment to set up correctly. Once in the right folders it gives you real time boss health percentages, damage-per-second (DPS) checks and buff timers all in compact displays on screen.

Overlay Features

Overlay Features Description Example of Usage
Boss Health Bar Displays monster HP in real time Keep an eye on final 10% HP
Damage Monitors Shows DPS for each party member Determine who contributes the most
Buff Timers Tracks item, food, and support durations Prepare next buff before it expires
REFramework Settings Allows custom positioning, size, and toggles for each data segment Move DPS info to top-left corner

Having all this data in the hunt changed how I approach combat scenarios. I love being able to see the monster’s condition without guessing and adjust accordingly. Overall the Monster Hunter Wilds Overlay gives you up to date information and makes the hunt more organized.

Female Body Sliders Mod

Female Body Sliders

I tested character customization in Monster Hunter Wilds early on but I found the game’s defaults were a bit limited. I found a feature that modifies skeletal proportions and body shape and allows you to change chest, hips and thighs in real time. Through the reframework menu you can store presets and apply them to different gear sets without any performance impact.

Body Adjustments

Body Adjustments Possible Ranges Impact on Armor Visuals
Chest Size 0.8x – 1.5x Subtle expansions for minimal clipping
Hip Width 0.9x – 1.3x Works with all in-game armor sets
Thigh Proportions 0.8x – 1.4x Adjusted geometry remains stable during animations
Preset Management Multiple Save Slots Quick swapping between preferred shape profiles

This mod allowed me to give my huntress a unique look. Everything is done through a user-friendly interface so it feels organic. The Female Body Sliders Mod added some much needed flexibility to the character creation system in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Direct Storage Stutter Fix Mod

Direct Storage Stutter Fix Mod

I noticed some stutter when new areas loaded or when the camera panned across big environments. After testing I found the issue was with the decompression bugs in Monster Hunter Wilds. Replacing the DirectStorage DLL files with version 1.2.3 fixed it by about 60%.

  1. Download the updated DirectStorage 1.2.3 files from a trusted source.
  2. Backup the original DLL files in the main folder of Monster Hunter Wilds.
  3. Replace the old DLL files with the new ones.
  4. Restart the game and test.

Hunts without the stutter felt fresh and I could dodge in critical situations. Performance is more reliable when gathering resources in big areas. The Direct Storage Stutter Fix Mod gives you a better gaming experience where you focus on the hunt not the technical issues.

Elma Replacer Mod

Elma Replacer

Story immersion in Monster Hunter Wilds gets better when companion characters stand out. The Elma Replacer Mod changes Elma’s overall look with new textures, suspenders, head scarf, and hairstyle. The default glasses disappear and she becomes a traveling partner ready for any biome.

Elma’s New Look

Feature Change Observed Aesthetic Outcome
Costume with Suspenders Replaces original outfit with khaki suspenders Matches well with adventuring feel
White Shoulder-Exposed Top Shows more detail around arms and shoulders Adds a fresh, modern twist
Head Scarf and No Glasses More adventurous vibe Reflects a bold sense of style
Subtle Body Adjustments Curvier frame without being overly revealing Offers a balanced new design

I enjoy talking to Elma after installing this mod because she’s more memorable. Seeing her in cutscenes with a new outfit adds some freshness to the story. This feels like it spices up the in-game companion and stays true to the explorative nature of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Unlimited Character and Pico Edits

Unlimited Character

After I reached high rank in Monster Hunter Wilds I wanted to make some last minute cosmetic changes without spending special items. This mod removes the character or Palico (Pico) edit limitations so I can edit appearances even with zero edit vouchers in my inventory. It stays active every time I open the appearance edit menu and gives me more options.

Edit Limit Removals

Feature Original Game Mechanic Mod’s Change
Character Edit Vouchers Typically required to change appearances Vouchers no longer required
Pico Edit Accessibility Limited changes after creation Edits accessible any time
Additional Sliders Works with existing customization options Interacts with other body or costume mods

I can now change my hunter’s hairstyle or my Felyne companion’s fur color without hassle. It’s fun to try new color patterns after forging advanced gear sets. The Unlimited Character and Pico Edits feature gives me more freedom to match my style to each monster I want to hunt in the world.

Long Hair Series Mods

Long Hair Series

I’m particular about hairstyles in action RPGs and Monster Hunter Wilds has multiple by default. However, the Long Hair Series adds longer versions of some of the presets, specifically hair 27, hair 40 and a flowing ponytail style. The long ponytail mod stood out the most because it has realistic physics and looks like a silhouette from another sci-fi game.

  • Hair 27 Extension – Adds to a simple layered style.
  • Hair 40 Extension – Updates a short cut to medium length.
  • Long Ponytail Hair – Has movement when sprinting or rolling.

In summary, these hairstyles fit well with armors like Kulu or Zinogre helm when you hide headgear in the menu. The length, physics and unique shapes gives my character more personality in the field. I forgot how much fun appearances are in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Persistent Buff Glow Removal

Glow Removal

I get annoyed when glow effects get in the way during hunts, especially when stacking multiple items and potions. After messing around in the reframework menu I found a script that removes the continuous glow from buffs like Attack Up, Defense Up or Insect Glaive extracts. It also removes Pico (Palico) glow effects so everything is more consistent.

Buff Glow Removed

Buff Glow Removed Examples Impact on Gameplay
Insect Glaive Extract glows from red, white, orange buffs Clearer view of monster patterns
Food and Drink Overlapping auras from extended consumable effects Cleaner visuals during group hunts
General Buff Items Attack/Defense/Stamina Up glimmers on armor Focus remains on monster movements
Palico Sparks Pico support buff radiance Reduces distractions during combined tactics

Reduces visual clutter and it’s easier to track monster attacks. Screenshots also look sharper and less cluttered. The Persistent Buff Glow Removal script refines the hunt’s visuals especially for those who want a clear view.

3x Monster Drops Mod

3x Monster Drops

After many hunts I realized some gear paths require repeated grinding for certain monster parts. The 3x Monster Drops Mod speeds up progress by giving 3x the normal amount of items when carving or gathering with an optional 2x version if that feels more balanced. It uses reframework to modify the drop rate so you get more resources per encounter.

Drop Rate Versions

Version Carving Multiplier Gathering Multiplier Suggested Use
3x Carve 3x 1x Accelerates forging sets
2x Material 2x 2x Moderate item increases
Combined 3x 2x Hybrid approach
Default Rate 1x 1x Original game balance

In my own tests I forged high-rank gear that required Rarity 9 or 10 monster parts faster. This way I can move on to advanced hunts, but some might prefer a slower pace to savor each challenge. Whatever multiplier I choose, the 3x Monster Drops Mod offers interesting flexibility with inventory acquisition in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Camera Zoom Out More Mod

Camera Zoom Out

I often wished to capture more of the environment during hunts, especially when fighting big monsters like Elder Dragons. Camera Zoom Out More addresses this by extending the default zoom value beyond 0–10. You can set a max of 50 which moves the view further back and gives you a wider view of the action.

Zoom range extended from 10 to 50
Does not change HUD scaling
Remembers chosen zoom level until moved again

Hunting from a farther angle let me see monster tail attacks more easily. It also helped with group fights since I could see the whole battlefield at a glance. After I added Camera Zoom Out More to my loadout I found a view that suits my preference for analyzing monster patterns in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Harder Mode Increased Difficulty

Harder Mode

When I felt my gear was getting too strong I decided to try the Harder Mode Increased Difficulty mod. This modifies monster HP and damage multipliers making hunts more challenging. The download page offers several increments like 1.6 times HP with 1.4 times damage, but other combinations are listed if you prefer a slightly bigger or smaller increase

Difficulty Levels

Version HP Multiplier Damage Multiplier Challenge Rating (Est.)
1.2 x HP / 1.2 x DM 1.2 1.2 Mildly higher tests
1.4 x HP / 1.3 x DM 1.4 1.3 Moderately tough hunts
1.6 x HP / 1.4 x DM 1.6 1.4 Notable increases
2.0 x HP / 1.8 x DM 2.0 1.8 Very high challenge

I chose the 1.6/1.4 variation and some hunts felt quite intense. Nargacuga and other agile monsters required more stamina management and precise hits. The extra HP extended the hunts while the higher damage punished mistakes. If you want a more epic struggle the Harder Mode Increased Difficulty mod in Monster Hunter Wilds brings that sense of urgency to each fight.
