WoW Demon Hunter Changes in The War Within 11.0.5 Patch Notes Update

WoW Demon Hunter Changes in The War Within 11.0.5 Patch Notes Update

The latest update in World of Warcraft (WoW), especially the 11.0.5 patch for The War Within (TWW), brings a range of changes to several classes. One of the biggest is for the Demon Hunter class which is known for its mobility and high DPS. With 11.0.5 Demon Hunters in both Havoc and Vengeance specs have had some big changes that will affect their gameplay in TWW. This guide will go over the changes, what they mean and how DH looks moving forward.

Demon Hunter Changes in TWW Overview

Demon Hunter Update

The Demon Hunter class has always been a popular class in World of Warcraft (WoW) due to its mechanics and fast playstyle. 11.0.5 has changes to Metamorphosis, Fel-Scarred, Focused Hatred and some minor cosmetic changes to Sigil of Spite and The Hunt. These should help DH in all types of combat, PvE and PvP. Here’s the quick summary:

  • Sigil of Spite icon updated
  • The Hunt icon updated
  • Fel-Scarred damage scaling changed
  • Metamorphosis healing changed for Vengeance and Havoc
  • Focused Hatred scales with number of targets hit

Each will be gone over in more detail in the guide below for TWW.

Cosmetic Updates: Icon Changes for Demon Hunters

First up are the cosmetic changes in 11.0.5. While these don’t affect gameplay, visual clarity is important in WoW for combat especially in raids and dungeons.

  • Sigil of Spite: The icon has been updated. This doesn’t change the ability’s mechanics but a clearer visual indicator can help you react and make quicker decisions.
  • The Hunt: Same as Sigil of Spite, the icon has been updated. This ability is a PvP powerhouse and a clearer icon means you can use it more precisely.

While these are cosmetic, they help with the overall experience in TWW especially in crowded or fast combat situations.

Hero Talents: Fel-Scarred and Focused Hatred

The Demon Hunter talents have always been versatile allowing you to adapt to different combat situations. In 11.0.5 two big talent changes stand out—Fel-Scarred and Focused Hatred.

Fel-Scarred

Fel-Scarred in TWW has been changed. This talent used to increase overall DH damage but now the scaling is based on number of targets.

Old Mechanic New Mechanic
Damage was constant regardless of number of targets. Bonus damage when hitting one target, 10% less for each additional target beyond one.

This makes Fel-Scarred good for single target situations like boss fights but less powerful for multiple targets. This balances out the damage for DHs who specialize in burst damage.

Focused Hatred

Focused Hatred used to only work for single target damage. In 11.0.5 it now gives extra damage for single targets but with diminishing returns as you hit multiple targets.

This makes Focused Hatred more situational in its application, you can focus on single targets in some situations but it doesn’t lose all value in multi-target situations.

Vengeance Specialization: Metamorphosis and Healing Mechanics

For Vengeance Demon Hunters the biggest change in 11.0.5 is with Metamorphosis.

Old Mechanic New Mechanic
Casting Metamorphosis changed the DH’s maximum health, giving a buff and more survivability. Now Metamorphosis heals the player for 40% of their maximum health instead of changing their health directly.

This changes how Vengeance DHs manage their cooldowns especially in burst healing situations. Also Metamorphosis no longer heals if cast while already in Demon Form so players must be more strategic with their timing.

Also Last Resort now always heals for 40% of the player’s base maximum health so it’s a failsafe in high damage situations.

Ability Pre-Patch 11.0.5 Mechanic Post-Patch 11.0.5 Mechanic
Metamorphosis Modified maximum health Heals for 40% of maximum health
Last Resort Triggered emergency survivability Guaranteed heal of 40% when triggered

This table shows the difference in survivability for Vengeance DHs after the patch 11.0.5 of The War Within.

Gameplay Impact: Havoc Specialization

Havoc Gameplay Impact

Havoc Demon Hunters didn’t get as many updates as Vengeance but the talent and healing changes still affect how the class plays in TWW. Felblade and Demon Blades are mostly the same, but the healing and Focused Hatred give more options for single target and multi target situations.

Havoc players will need to use Fel-Scarred and Focused Hatred to their advantage in different encounters. The reduction of these talents in multi target fights will make Havoc DHs focus more on burst in PvP.

DH in the Patch 11.0.5 of The War Within

The DH changes in the WoW The War Within 11.0.5 patch notes are big especially for Vengeance. Although it looks small on the surface it updates the gameplay a lot especially with health and cooldown management. For Havoc DHs the new talent dynamics makes the gameplay more tactical especially in situations where single target damage is important.

So all in all Demon Hunters are more customizable and players can adjust their playstyle for different situations in PvE and PvP. Let’s see how this will shape the meta and if Demon Hunters will still be the bosses of WoW.
